student of the month story john Salas & Nut Graph

John salas , a student here at Bowie High School recently won the student of the month award had a few things to say about it. The student of the month award is pretty self explanatory, its a monthly award that goes out to one student that can earn the award through many ways, mainly involving their schoolwork and how involved they are. Bowie High School has carried on the tradition here in Austin as well as many other schools in the district. John received the award a few days ago and was for the previous month.John says he think he one because of how much the teachers like him yet he shows little effort because of how "easy" it is.

A nut graph is a simple concept in a story that basically tells the reader a big "why"? explaining why the story or article is important and why you should read it. A nut graph shouldn't be any harder then you make it to understand.A nut graph supports the beginning of a story or articles "who what when where and how" and can provide the information that is necessary to back up the first statements.

A nut graph should be consistent and keep the reader really hooked while they are reading it all. a nut graph should also carry the theme throughout.Nut graphs are very simple to understand and easy to learn.

Recently Bowie student athlete John salas was named student of the month for the 5th time in a row.

"I already knew i was going to win from the start because im so smart," John says.

John is the only student that claims winning student of the month was effortless and insignificant.

"I barely do any work in and out of the classroom and all the teachers love me so yea," John says after being asked about the work level it took to win.

Even though John is so successful in winning the student of the month, the board doesn't approve his approach on winning and how little motivation on winning.

"We are still trying to figure out how this student wins so many times without putting in the effort it takes, but we are still very much supportive that he won once again," says a Bowie School Board representative.

"With all the recognition i have gotten form winning, i plan on attending Harvard for college," John says at the end of the interview.

The next student of the month will be recognized late April with a hope of a new student.

Sports Portfolio Evaluation Part 1 And 2

PART 1

a. Sam Adams
b. Most pictures contain sports of various types like bmx, soccer, basketball, swimming
c.They noted that the photographer could have taken better angles at some points and also that there was a lot of potential for better pictures if the photographer had used what was in some of his photos and had them doing something more interesting which was an easy fix. Also that some pictures weren't as consistently good as others.
d.The judges liked how most of the photos were sport related and that the photographer had to travel to a lot of different places for most of the photos.
e. I think i would have a lot in common with the photographer just because of how much i like sports and how much he liked to take picture of sports. I also do agree with what most of the judges said about how he could have taken better angled photos in some situations

a.Josh birnbaum
b.Portfolio was all over the place including different sports and then funnier random pictures and near the end they were mainly consisting of pictures of a man that was in a wheelchair and him in different situations.
c.Judges didn't like how one photo could be very good and then the next could be terrible and they noted that not having your portfolio in a nice order could bring you down.Another thing they didn't like was how random some single pictures were compared to all the other ones. One more thing that the judges didn't like was how some pictures point of view was bad.
d.The judges liked how funny some of the photos were and also the set of photos that had the man in a wheelchair and his life in it.
E.I think the photographer took some very good picture and has a lot of potential but has some things to work on for now in terms of his techniques.

a.Carlos Delgado
b.The portfolio consisted of different 2 different photo stories, one being about the grandmother of a family having a condition where she has to carry around a box and the other about people living in a trailer home and one of the members smoking speed. To go along with all this there are many single photos that randomly consist of sports.
c.Judges didn't like for one the lack of background in some photos. Another problem was some photos being bland and boring. The other problem was seeing some of the same exact photos from the previous years.
d.The judges like how in detail and emotional the photo stories were and also the creativity used.
e. i don't see myself liking very many of the photos but i do like how it looks like the photographer had to spend a lot of time and thinking for some of these photos.

a.Anthony Souffle
b.Portfolio consisted of well taken photos of various things including emotional people and sports. Then it moved on to have a photo story about birds that got tangled in fisher mens lines on a dock and then the being saved by humans.
c.Judges saw photos the had already previously saw. The judges also found some photos humorous whenever they had a serious meaning behind them. One judge commented about a photo being too emotional and to not "go there"
d. Judges like how well taken most of the photos were in such a high quality and also liked the angles that were used for most of the photos.
e.i really enjoyed the final photo story just because i like fishing and seeing these birds going from being caught up in all the fishing line to being rescued and released was cool to see.

2.
a.Dustin Snipes, the judges noted just how creative some of the photos were and how the photos were very original and very well taken.
b.I see strengths in the angles that most of the photos were taken in which seem very hard at some points to get and you don't see them very often. Only weaknesses i can see is how the whole portfolio was only single pictures of various sports and had no photo stories or any other subject.

3.
a. The judges went through a pretty brief process of looking at how consistent the photos were and how good the stories were individually.Another big thing they looked at was if there were any photos in the portfolios that were just completely unnecessary and how the overall consistency of each persons portfolios.

PART 2

A. I agree with the judges on the photo of the goose and the girl playing a sport trying to dodge it. They talked about liking the photo a lot because of how rare of a shot it is and how it sorta takes away the seriousness of the sport for a second and can put a smile on some peoples face.

2.I disagree with the judges in the photo of the wrestler with feet around his head because they talked about how sloppy the cropping was but i thought because it didn't include the 2nd persons whole body it made for a better picture. Seeing pictures like this are kind of rare and the fact that only the 2nd persons feet were exposed made for a better photo.

1.I think that this statement is true and not false and that a lot more goes into it then one might believe.I think that the statement is already something that a lot of people already talk about and especially our elders. I see that this subject is both negative and positive to the majority of people that talk about it.
